We’ve been getting great use out of our Six Flags season passes this summer. Well, Shar and the kids have; I have been getting mediocre use out of mine. They’re nice because they are relatively cheap fun, and you don’t feel pressure when you’re at the park to do everything at once.
The other day was a typical day of what the kids simply refer to as going to “rollercoasters.” After an hour of battling rush hour traffic through the Metroplex, Shar called me. She said, “I give up,” and pulled into Six Flags. The kids of course were thrilled. (Taking three toddlers into a theme park solo is something she likes to do to relax.)
I caught up with them a little later, coming out of the bumper cars (See Figure 1, left). I walked behind them about 200 yards, and they never noticed. It’s fun to observe your own family as a stranger would. I decided they’re all cute as buttons.
They arrived at the BUGS BUNNY’S SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIE, which some people call the regular ol’ planes ride, before they saw me. Next they rode the MICHIGAN J. FROG’S TINSELTOWN REVUE (classic swings to these same people – figure 2, right), the WILE E. COYOTE’S GRAND CANYON BLASTER (figure 3, below), and then the SYLVESTER & TWEETY’s STATE FAIR-IS WHEEL. Just in case you’re plotting this on a map.
Finally, as something new, we took them to the caves ride. It used to be the Spelunkers in the old days, but now it has been Looney Tunes-ified as well. The kids were initially scared but afterwards decided they wanted to ride a second time.
On the way home, Kaylyn informed me the Cave (officially called the YOSEMITE SAM’S GOLD RIVER ADVENTURE™) is her new favorite ride. Christian elected to stick with the trucks (aka SPEEDY GONZALES’ TRUCKIN’ ACROSS AMERICA).
