Focus on: Joslyn Grace

This morning we dressed the trio for a Carousel birthday party at the mall. The kids were all encouraged to dress up as a character. Per Kaylyn’s suggestion, Joslyn was Tinkerbell.

Toddlers at the Carousel RideI noticed while at the mall that some of the little boys were enamored with Joslyn. One little boy in particular, a 6 year old named Chase Stephens, wanted to ride on the horse next to Joslyn and hold her hand. I wasn’t sure if I should be amused or concerned. I asked Shar about the strange fascination this little boy had with our daughter. Shar said, “Oh, everyone acts that way around Joslyn.”

Meanwhile, there’s been little progress on the poop front. This happened with the others, too: it seemed that the kid lost all interest, and then suddenly decided to poop and get off the pot (so to speak). So we retain hope.

In the meantime, we continue to put up with excess poop. This afternoon she came to me and said, “poo-poo.” Often I can’t tell the difference between this and “boo-boo” so I asked again for clarification. With a definitive “poo-poo” response, I asked, “So, did you poop in your pants?”

Joslyn replied, “No, I pooped in my pull-up.”

Oh. Thanks for the clarification.

Later for dinner we had breakfast. Part of the meal consisted of sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches. Joslyn is a carnivore; she just likes the sausage. In fact with most meals, we can skip the frills and just hand her the meat and she’s good.

During dinner she pooped again. This, shortly after spilling her milk. We didn’t cry, although we felt like it. Instead, we thought back on her costume for the day and came up with a new nickname: Stinkerbell.

Zachary has now progressed to VERY occasionally telling me when he’s poopy. Sometimes he just says “poopy!” Sometimes he says “diaper!” which really comes out sounding like “buy-bah!” Madeleine is ready and willing to teach him to go on the potty, but Mommy remains less enthusiastic.

I just can’t help myself. Got to comment on this one. I’m still laughing, funny to me now, huh? Joslyn’s “poo poo” dilemmas and personality bring back a lot of memories of, well, I won’t mention Shar’s poop delight again, I promise. The “Tinkerbell” costume has been a hit for each of them, hasn’t it? Tinkerbell brings out any hidden talent they might possess.ha. They all looked precious in their costumes! Especially Stinkerbell!
